Our School Board

The Board of Trustees: Governance and Role

The Board of Trustees is accountable for the school’s governance and strategic performance, while the day-to-day management of the school is delegated to the Principal.

Key Responsibilities of the Board

• Strategic leadership: Setting the strategic direction and ensuring the school meets all legal and regulatory requirements under the Education and Training Act 2020.
• Core areas: Overseeing student achievement, setting and monitoring policies, managing finances, employing staff, and ensuring a safe environment.
• Special character: Ensuring the school’s Christian character is upheld across all operations as a state-integrated school.

Board Membership and Term

The Board consists of:

• The Principal
• One staff representative
• Five parent-elected members
• Three proprietor appointees

A Board Secretary is responsible for taking meeting minutes.

Board Meetings and Communication

The Board generally meets monthly, excluding school holidays, in the Whānau Room. All parents are welcome to attend.

Note on participation: Visitors do not have automatic speaking rights. To raise an issue with the Board, please contact the Presiding Member at bot.chair@nca.school.nz prior to the meeting. For concerns or complaints, please refer to the relevant policy on the SchoolDocs site.

The current Board term began on 17 September 2025 and runs for three years.
